The Royal Children's Hospital

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) Melbourne is one of the world's great children's hospitals and is internationally recognised as a leading centre of paediatric treatment, teaching and research. RCH is the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and their care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas. RCH provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

The Children’s Cancer Centre at RCH is on the 6th floor of the main building. The Children’s Cancer ward has 24 beds, most in single rooms. There is a separate Bone Marrow Transplant unit in the ward. This unit has four single rooms and is for children having bone marrow transplants. It has different isolation rules from the rest of the ward. If your child is on this unit, you will be fully informed of these rules. The Day Oncology Unit (DOU) is also in the Children’s Cancer ward. It provides a range of treatments and procedures.
