Reducing unwanted variation in practice
Reducing unwanted variation in practice |
| In reference to reducing unwanted variation in practice, the Department of Health (DH) states that appropriate health care is based on evidence to ensure that ‘the right thing is done to the right person at the right time, avoiding over and under utilisation and unnecessary variation in the practice and standard of care’. The PICS is committed to assisting its partner sites to reduce unwanted variation in practice. For example, the PICS is working with a multidisciplinary team across RCH and SH to improve paediatric surgical oncology outcomes. Two of the aims of this project are to standardise surgical oncology protocols and guidelines and develop a consistent approach to surgical management across the partnership sites. |
