| Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in East Melbourne is the only hospital in Victoria that provides a specialised radiation therapy service for children and adolescents. It is also Australia’s only public hospital solely dedicated to cancer research, treatment and education. Peter Mac had radiation therapy centres at Box Hill, Bendigo and Moorabbin, but child and adolescent treatment is only provided at East Melbourne where there is specialised care for young people. Peter Mac’s Paediatric and Late Effects Service receive referrals for 50 to 60 new patients each year and treat and estimated 70 to 80 patients annually.
