Our Strategic Direction

Our Strategic Direction

The work of the PICS is directed by the PICS Strategic Plan 2009-12. Released in February 2010 the Plan outlines the major directions and activities of the PICS for the three year period, July 2009 to June 2012. As well as responding to priorities identified during a comprehensive consultative process, the Strategic Plan is the PICS response to the Victorian Government's Victoria’s Cancer Action Plan 2008-2011 (VCAP) and the Supportive care policy for Victoria. The PICS together with stakeholders has formulated the following four strategic goals to guide service development and activities from 2009 to 2012:

Goal 1

To facilitate the provision of sustainable services that are of the highest international standard and which are based on a child and family centred model of care where children and families are active participants in their care.

Goal 2

To support quality research and evaluation with a focus on translational research outcomes and to maintain an accessible repository of statewide data and information.

Goal 3

To support a cohesive and inspired workforce through staff support, professional development and education and strengthening the work force.

Goal 4

To increase PICS Governance, reporting and organisational capability, relationships with philanthropy, support organisations, Government and community agencies.
