Multidisciplinary care

Multidisciplinary care

Defined by the Department of Health (DH) as a collaborative approach to treatment planning and ongoing care throughout the treatment pathway, multidisciplinary care aims to ensure that all members of the treatment and care team discuss relevant aspects of a cancer patient’s physical and psychosocial needs along with other factors impacting upon the patients care.

The PICS is committed to facilitating multidisciplinary care across its partner and shared care sites. For example, the PICS has implemented multidisciplinary meeting consent forms at the Royal Children’s Hospital and Monash Children’s in line with the DH guidelines and has introduced an electronic multidisciplinary template for documentation, reporting and communication purposes.
