Immunisation

Immunisation

During treatment and for a while after, your child should not have immunisations without your Consultant Oncologist's approval. Certain immunisations should not be given to other children in the family. The only exception is tetanus immunisation. Contact the ward or your Nurse Coordinator if your child has a wound that needs a tetanus shot - rusty iron, cut, animal bite, dirty puncture wound. Your Consultant Oncologist will tell you when it is okay to have immunisations. The Nurse Coordinator can give you a letter for exemption from school immunisations.
