Bone marrow transplant in children
Bone marrow transplant in children |
| As the largest Australian Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Service, the RCH Children’s Cancer Centre provides allogeneic BMT services to children with high risk leukaemias and a number of non-malignant conditions as well as autologous stem cell support for solid tumours. The PICS completed the documentation of a model of care for BMT. The overall purpose of this project was to develop and cost a future best practice model of care for bone marrow transplant (BMT) services for children / adolescents with cancer or other relevant conditions and their families. The service model was guided by evidence from the literature, consultation with stakeholders and parents, work log data and a benchmarking exercise with interstate BMT services. The health service is currently considering the model of care with the RCH Children’s Cancer Centre to establish an appropriate implementation plan. |
