Adolescents and young adults
The Paediatric Integrated Cancer Service (PICS) has commenced a project to review the current adolescent profile and service provision to adolescents attending the Children’s Cancer Centres at the Royal Children’s Hospital and Monash Children’s. The aim of the project is to establish a list of goals and objectives which will improve access and services for this particular age group.
There are three phases of the Project
| | Collation of evidence from the literature, data collection, service mapping and identification of current services
| | Consultation with consumers and stakeholders to identify needs
| | Matching the literature and benchmarking data with stakeholder and consumer views and comparison to current service provision. Identification of gaps and potential opportunities for improvement and documentation of a set of recommendations for service design and improvement.

An electronic survey has been developed. The key objective of the survey is to identify the needs as identified by adolescents attending the Children’s Cancer Centres and to document their experiences. The purpose is to use this data to inform service improvements and physical facilities available to adolescents.
